To the right, you’ll see a pillar of stone you can jump up onto, where the first Marking Flag is. For the meantime, the easiest option, and the path to progress, is to the right. Going left down the path confronts you with a high power Changgui beast, and whilst you can confront it if you wish, the fight will be incredibly tough and that route only offers a few generic items to loot. You can, at this point, go either left or right. Jump up onto the ledge, and drop down off the other side, avoiding the large amounts of fire to the right. Once done at the Battle Flag, continue up the steps to the right to learn about walking, and the Fatal Strike you can perform on the unaware enemy ahead of you. Battle Flags are things to keep an eye out for! Not only that, but you can also rest at a planted Battle Flag to restore Health, you can spend Genuine Qi to improve your attributes, fast travel (once it unlocks), and much more! Your Morale Rank drops when you are killed, but it will not go below the Fortitude Rank, so the higher the Fortitude Rank, the better. Interacting with a Battle Flag means you can raise your Fortitude Rank. Just ahead you’ll find the very first Battle Flag. Critical Blow attacks will be represented by a red glow surrounding an enemy as they wind up an attack. If you deflect/redirect a Critical Blow, the power of the deflect increases and you can significantly break the enemy’s stance and recover your negative Spirit. These attacks cannot be blocked with Guard, and if you are hit then your Morale Rank will lower by 1. It is at this point you’ll learn of the Enemy Critical Blow. If you die again before regaining those currencies, you’ll lose them forever - so be careful!ĭefeat them first time, or in a subsequent Revenge attempt, and then continue along the path defeating additional Yellow Turban warriors. If the enemy is a boss, you will regain them simply by rechallenging them. In order to regain your Morale Points and Genuine Qi, you will need to defeat that same enemy. The Morale Rank of the enemy that killed you will increase as well. You will lose your Morale Points and half of your Genuine Qi when you are killed. Your Morale Rank affects your combat power, and each enemy also has a Morale Rank, dictating how dangerous they are.ĭropping down and facing them, should you die you’ll learn of the Revenge/Rechallenge mechanic. On a roof to the right you can kick down a stack of logs to create a shortcut, but you’ll want to jump and proceed up onto the roof to the left to continue.īelow you’ll see an enemy with a Morale Rank of 3. Practice this with the enemy ahead, and be wary of the warrior with a staff hidden around the right corner at the end of the path. Turning right and proceeding down the path will trigger a Deflect tutorial, in which you can hit the designated button just before an enemy attack connects, letting you redirect it, avoiding damage whilst simultaneously lowering the enemy’s Spirit and shrinking the lower end of the enemy’s Spirit Gauge, increasing your own Spirit in the process. With them defeated, jump up over the wall and face another two Yellow Turban warriors ahead. Defeat them with basic Normal or Spirit attacks, blocking if necessary. You will also not falter during attacks and will penetrate the enemy’s guard.Īs the tutorial disappears, turn to your left and you’ll face the first enemy of the game, a standard Yellow Turban warrior. When you have positive Spirit, you can consume the surplus Spirit to increase damage. Spirit attacks are slower, but deal more Spirit damage, which can reduce the enemy’s Spirit Gauge. Normal attacks are fast and easily increased your Spirit. Proceed forward and you are tutorialized on how to perform both a Normal Attack and a Spirit Attack. Having done so, the boy will give you a Dragon Cure Pot. After a brief introductory cutscene of a village being raided by Yellow Turban Fighters, during which you are struck down defending civilians, but are later revived by a talisman given to you by a blindfolded boy, you are tasked with creating your character.
