Install and launch any PC game you own, no matter the platform. Import all your games from PC and consoles, build and organize them into one master collection. It imports not just the games you have on other platforms, but also things like achievements and time played. The biggest selling point of Galaxy 2.0 is its ability to essentially be the hub of folks' game collections. Now, the closed beta is live for everybody that signed up. At that point, the site encouraged folks to sign up to the closed beta, though a small portion of those who signed up were also given access to a technical alpha a few days ago. Call me prejudiced but I have trouble trusting companies based in places that are inherently shifty.Back in mid-May, GOG, the CD Projekt-owned DRM-free games marketplace, announced the ambitious overhaul of its Galaxy launcher. I really wish they were based somewhere like Germany or Canada, too. In truth most of us wouldn't mind a very basic DRM scheme like a simple one-time activation if it helped GoG to become a better and more trustworthy company. The whole DRM-free concept is wonderful but the company behind it really needs to clean up its act. The best advice I can give about GoG was given to me by an online acquaintance: If you want to try the GoG release of a game, pirate it first and make sure it works correctly. This resulted in a quick change of attitude and a full refund, but those without leverage would probably be screwed. When they did this to me I told them to Google my name so they could find out about the legal firm I work for. Even worse, when you try to get support for games the reps will sometimes conveniently be unable to find your account details and say you pirated the game. However, some games will NOT provide full functionality unless you're running GoG Galaxy. * One of GoG's selling points is that they don't have DRM in their games, and that's technically correct. ![]() Found plenty of posts from other users with same problems and nothing but cut-and-paste advice from mods (not even actual support people). * I've had several GoG-ified old games refuse to install on Windows 7 or exhibit serious issues. I've literally heard nothing bad about that outfit so it makes the problems that GoG exhibits all the more confounding. * Their apparently owned by CD-Projekt, the makers of the Witcher series. I honestly can't put it any clearer than that. * Customer service ranges from indifferent to hostile. Updates are also not easily located on the site - I initially had to use Google to find that section. Speaking of updates, GoG takes WEEKS to get out updates that Steam has on the day their released. * They say GoG Galaxy install isn't required to play games but it IS required to update many of them. I won't be using them again or recommending them to anyone going forward. And when you do get to email an actual human, expect to take at least 3 days to get to a solution. One last thing, if you want any help, get ready to sit through 15 minutes of talking with their support chatbot, which will do everything in its power to prevent you from talking to an actual human. It makes me wonder why they bother offering returns at all. They advertise 30 day returns but will then nitpick your case for any excuse to deny giving you the money back. I'm closing my account and posting this review to warn others to stay away. ![]() Whatever, they can keep the $15 since my bank's deadline for chargeback has passed. When I requested a refund, I was told they would gladly refund the money for the game ($10) to my GOG wallet, but that I could not have the funds I sent to my GOG wallet ($15) refunded to my bank account because I had "used the funds." Excuse me? You just refunded me the $10 for the game, effectively cancelling that purchase, so I should also be able to refund the entire $15 back to my card (along with the international transaction fees, since they are based in Poland and apparently do not have a U.S. ![]() However, in my case, I purchased one of their games (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) and it did not work on any of my systems. You are encouraged to add funds to your GOG wallet under the promise you can refund the money to your bank account within 30 days. This company misleads you on their refund policy to ensure it is impossible to get a refund for funds you add to GOG wallet. I created an account with GOG a few months ago and I have never deleted a service faster.
